What is Health Coaching?

Most people think about health coaching as simply fitness and nutrition advice, but it's actually so much more than that. Yes, fitness and nutrition are important components of health coaching, but it also includes a wide variety of lifestyle support. This includes how to make habits stick, emotional support, tools and education about the mind-body connection, using tools like light, cold therapy, heat therapy, sleep hygiene, heart rate variability training, meditation, breathwork, mindfulness, natural and herbal medicine, and more.

As your health coach, I'm here to be your guide, and offer education, feedback, support, guidance, and tools to help you achieve your health goals.

Together, we can work on making habits stick, developing a better mind-body connection, and exploring a range of tools and techniques that can help support your health and wellbeing.

My goal is to empower you to take control of your health and create a happier, healthier, and more fulfilling life. So, let's work together to achieve your goals and create a personalized plan that addresses all aspects of your life.

 Virtual or in person sessions

Secure virtual sessions will take place online via JaneApp or come to see me in person from my home office in Vancouver BC.

I am Carissa Joy,

your coach

Its true, I've struggled with my own health as long as I can remember. I wasn't gifted with strong genes. But I have to admit, part of me is grateful for the journey. Going through my own challenges was what put me on a path to learn all that I could about holistic health and is why I do the work I do. And I LOVE it!

What does Holistic Health REALLY mean?

Holistic is a word that gets thrown around so much that sometimes I feel it looses its power. To me, it means that we are looking at the person as a whole. Our medical system is set up in the opposite way. If you have acne, IBS, migraine and anxiety you will likely see a dermatologist, gastroenterologist, neurologist, and psychiatrist or psychologist. They will look at these issues as separate and wont be able to see the whole picture and how these issues are connected. In missing the connections they are often simply covering up the symptoms with the tools they have. And when we cover up symptoms the root cause often worsens.

I strive to see the bigger picture that your lifestyle is playing on your health. To make connections and put in place systems that will be supportive so that you can bring your body into balance.

What can health coaching help with?

I work to support clients dealing with chronic health challenges such as:

Chronic pain, headache, migraine, autoimmune, gut health challenges, stress, burnout, women's health challenges, skin and hair and more.

These types of conditions often have a massive lifestyle component. By working on your lifestyle and using natural medicines you can experience significant improvement.

Importance of Education

I am passionate about education because it leads to empowerment. I've always seen myself as a teacher. I've taught dance, gymnastics, marketing, herbal medicine, yoga, and now health to my clients. When you're educated you know how to take your health and lifestyle into your own hands.

How to make change

Health Coaching is here to help you when things get tough. Often we "know" a lot about what we "should" be doing but we just can't seem to make even the most basic changes. I am here to help you fit these changes into your life.

Receive free tools and resources you use can use to improve your migraines straight to your inbox.

I know what you're thinking, not another newsletter. No one needs more of those, but I promise you if you're a migraine sufferer this is one email list you'll want to be on. I'll only send you emails 1-2 a month.
